I entered into recruitment consultancy before joining Scotland's first food testing laboratory, D & M Clark. After ten years this business was sold and I remained as director for 18 months. I was then approached by ALcontrol Laboratories to set up a Scottish site. After successfully doing so, I then moved into food manufacturing as MD for Fenton Barns in North Berwick. During this time I saw a niche in the laboratory testing market, to provide technical support in addition to laboratory results, and hence Ashwood UK was formed in May 2003

The philosophy of Ashwood has unfolded as we had hoped, with a friendly, knowledgeable and hardworking team providing a first class competitive service to the food and drink industry.

We have continued to invest in the staff and in the business as a whole and I thank the staff at Ashwood for their total dedication and I thank you our loyal client base for entrusting us with your analysis and technical requirements over the last seven years.

We are continuing to invest with the introduction of Allergen testing, VIDAS rapid Salmonella, Listeria and E.coli 0157 testing, and several other new additions to the scope of our UKAS Accreditation.

It is a difficult time for any business at present, but as one of the only independently owned laboratories with both Chemistry and Microbiological Laboratories on one site, please be assured that we are totally client led and our focus is on developing the business and the staff, with the aim to be a critical supplier to you, our client.
